Treatment is based on the cause of it . place the client in upright position and encorage breat feeding and bleeding is present we need to stop it.The principles nee to follow to expell the retained placenta is , firstly administer medication like oxytocin and this help to contract uterus as well as expell out the placenta.Secondly applying control cord traction means apply pressure or gentle massage on the uterus and thus placenta will seperate from the uterus.Still unseperated retained placenta needs sugical intervention.
