Bacterial meningitis:

Causative agents: streptococcus pneumoniae, neisseria meningititis, hemophilius influenzae and listeria monocytogenes.

Meninges of the brain is affected.

Transmission: It is passed to others through saliva or mucus through kissing, coughing or sneezing.

Common places: Infants, teens, young adults, crowded places, low immunity, healthcare providers working with meningitis patients and people in sub-saharan belt.

Treatment: Antibiotics, dexamethasone and fluid replacement.
