- It is a field of nursing. this form of nursing shifts the focus
from the individual to the community
- Combines public health with nursing
- It is population-focused - it tailored to the needs of the
community
- It focus of disease prevention and health promotion.
- It promotes client responsibilities and self-care. This
approach allows the patient to be a part of his / her healthcare
therefore, the patient becomes a partner in the heathcare process
and doesn't remain a mere beneficiary
- It uses aggregate measurements ( this data obtained from a huge
number of patients) and analysis ( this data is analysed to know
what is good for the community overall)
- Principles of organizational theory are utilized -
- Inter-professional collaboration - collaboration between
doctors, nurses, NGOs, community leaders for the goal of health
promotion.
