Is there a principled limit to the scope of personal responsibility for one’s health or should health be a totally private matter?
Health should not be a totally private matter as according to the definition of health according to the WHO is; a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Thus health is not the only the physical well being it is also mental and social well being and a person who is mentally not well cannot make wise decisions. Apart from this for social well being, we need a social convoy all this cannot be achieved if health is totally a private matter. Further, our physicians play an important role in our well being so our health issues have to be shared with them.
