In medical terms STASIS word is often used to define the slowing or stoppage of the flow of body fluid.

For example- Stoppage or slowing of the circulating body fluid or feacal matter retention in the large intestine lumen.

Stasis ulcer is a word which is used in medicine to define the type of ulcer which occurs due to the stoppage of circulating blood back to the heart due to the venous hypertension i.e. increase in the pressure that leads fo failure of circulating venous blood to get back into the heart.
