We should avoid hyperventilation in increase ICP patients, explain why?
Icp is the intracranial pressure and it is maintained in our human body with the help of CSF and the blood supply to brain .normal ICP is 5-15 mmHg and when it is high the blood flow to brain will reduce as a result of increase in icp .
Hyperventilation is a specific kind of condition in which a person wil start to breathe very quickly and lead to the exhaling more than they inhale. This causes a rapid reduction in the amount of carbon dioxide in our human body. This leads to the narrowing of the blood vessels that specifically supply blood to the human brain. This reduction in the blood supply our human brain leads to symptoms like lightheadedness and tingling of our fingers . In serious condition where the increase in icp is so high and reduction in blood supply due to vasoconstriction caused by the hyperventilation will result in ischemia of Brain tissue of the individual
