It is highly recommended that compulsory breast feeding to be done till 6 months.. And can be continued till one years with additional foods..

Weaning the child should be done slowly one food item at a time. Watch and observe.. Cows milk should be adequately boiled and feeding bottles should be sterilised by boiling.

It is recommended that kids 1 to 2 years drink whole milk and then if their growth is steady to switch to low fat or nonfat (skim) milk. Kids who are overweight can be switched to low fat milk before turning two.
