Identify and discuss two major ways in which qualitative research differs from quantitative research. Is one better than the other? Provide reference(s).
Qualitative research differs from quantitative research because qualitative research is used primarily for inductive processes to formulate theory or hypotheses. Quantitative research is used deductive process primarily for testing the pre-specified concepts, constructs, and hypotheses that make up a theory. There are no statistical tests in case of qualitative research. In qualitative research statistical tests are used for analysis. The quantitative research is better because it leads to generalization to a broader population, (Rhodes, 2014).
