Discuss how providing concurrent therapy to patients, which remains a general practice for many therapists, is or is not an ethical dilemma.
A concurrent therapy is defined as the one therapist providing different treatments to two patients at the same time. The provision of concurrent therapy requires that the therapist be in the room supervising and performing all minutes provided to each patient. It is an ethical dilemma as we cannot say that both the patients are treated properly or not.Potential disadvantages might occur due to concurrent therapy ,like some patients may not want or like to be treated along with another patient ,patients choice must be respected. This is due to confidentiality issue of individual patients, a patient cannot tell his problem properly while another patient is present.Patients may perceive concurrent therapy as less personal and may not feel they are receiving appropriate attention.
