Answer #1

If a person lacks Cyclo oxygenase enzymes in the body OTC analgesics will not be effective in her/him because OTC analgesics such as acetaminophen, NSAIDS , aspirin act on cyclo oxygenase enzymes and inhibit it as cyclo - oxygenase enzymes are involved in synthesis of prostaglandins ,thromboxane which help in sensation of pain and cyclo oxygenase enzymes inhibition stop action on prostaglandins thus inhibit pain

Other class of analgesics which can be used in such patients are opioids because they act presynaptically and postsynaptically causes blockage of calcium channel and opening of potassium channel respectively so that nociceptive transmission can be inhibited

Thus opioid doesn't act on cyclo oxygenase enzymes hence can be used in patient which lack cyclo oxygenase enzymes to reduce pain
