Answer #1

Having a control group in an experiment is important as it it is used to compare between the experimental group and the control group. In an easy way control group is used to differentiate whether the treatment which is being used on an experiment group is fruitful or not. It is useful to measure the effect of the treatment. without a control group you can't differentiate whether the treatment has done the changes on the on the experimental group or there is a contribution of other variable.

Using a control group in medical research is quite common as it validate the experiment strongly. But nowadays when ethics and legal issues are at their peak the frequency of having a control group in an experiment is not as much as it was used to but yes it is still in the practice. However it only work under the ethics.
