Using the ACC/AHA guidelines, how is the diagnosis of hypertension made? What blood pressure readings are used to identify normal BP, elevated, stage 1 hypertension, stage 2 hypertension, and crisis?
According to ACC / AHA ( American Health Association ) the guideline of diagnosis of presence of Hypertension & stages of Hypertension are discussed below-
When the blood pressure is inceased from the normal rate, then the situation is considered as Hypertension..
Normal Blood pressure - is 120/80 mm of Hg.
Elevated stage- In this stage blood pressure is slightly elevated.systolic blood pressure is between 120-130 mm of Hg..& diastolic blood pressure is approximately less than 80 mm of Hg..
Stage 1 Hypertension - Systolic blood pressure is mild elevated. ( 130-140 mm of Hg) & Diastolic blood pressure is also mild elevated.. ( 80-90 mm of Hg )
Stage 2 Hypertension - Systolic blood pressure is moderately elevated. ( greater than 140 mm of Hg) & Diastolic blood pressure is also mild elevated.. ( greater than 90 mm of Hg )
Hypertensive Crisis - Both Systolic & Diastolic blood
pressure are severely elevated..
Systolic blood pressure ( greater than 180 mm of Hg..)
Diastolic blood pressure ( greater than 120 mm of Hg..)
In this condition of Hypertensive Crisis,, the chance of Organ
damage is initiated.. & with the passing of days Organ damage
