low contrast resolution is an important feature in imaging modalities. explain what is meant by LCR and the role of contrast in producing this LCR characteristics

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Contrast resolution is ability to distinguish between different intensities in an image. Low contrast resolution is ability to discriminate between the structures with slight difference of intensity. It can also be defined as it is minimum size of structure for fixed difference in contrast in relation to adjacent background. These LCR images can be improved by the use of contrast. Contrast will improve that particular imaging modality by increasing the difference in intensities as contrast will be taken up by certain structures in that image and some won't. This will clearly improve image quality and it will be easier to point out the difference between two structures of different intensities.
