Which substances inhibit bone re absorption?
A. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) and estrogen
B. Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a)
C. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) and t umor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a)
D.Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and estrogen
I hope you will rate my answer positively ---------
The correct option is A, Osteoprotegerin and estrogen both inhibit the bone reabsorption.
Inhibition of bone reabsorption means drug or any factors which inhibit the osteoclastic activity.
Osteoprotegerin inhibit the bone resorption , as it act directly on RANKEL receptor to inhibit the osteoclastic activity. Estrogen promotes the effect of Osteoprotegerin and also it can directly act on osteoclast cells to inhibit it.
PGE2 stimulate osteoclast for bone resorption by acting on receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa- B ligand { RANKEL }. Tumor necrosing factor alpha inhibits osteoblast to decrease bone deposition.
Thankyou.
