Answer #1

Answer-

The most appropriate diet for Brandi would be -

4g Na, no concentrated sweet, dysphagia level-1 pureed.

The combination of these three would be most appropraite as Brandi is an elderly person with high BP, sugar and dysphagia.

Giving her only 2g Na diet or concentrated sugar diet or pureed diet separately would not deal with all the problems she suffer with.

- 2g sodium diet would only solve the problem of high blood pressure

- No concentrated sweet would help to only control the blood sugar by eliminating simple sugars from the food.

- Pureed food would only help with the newly diagnosed severe dysphagia. But she would be still left with high blood pressure a d diabetes.

Hence, a combination of all three i.e. 4g Na, no concentrated sweet and dysphagia level-one pureed diet would be the most appropriate for Brandi.
