Ketogenic Diet can cause:
-Kidney Stones
-Hepatic Steatosis (Fatty Liver)
-Hypoproteinemia or low levels of protein in the blood
Question:
What are the relationships of each disease in connection with lipid
irregularities in the body?
*I need three (3) answers, because there are 3 diseases given.
Kidney stones occur when there are too many waste products or enough fluid to flush those waste products out. Specific alteration in patient’s lipid profile may reflect on physiochemistry properties of urine, this will increase the risk of developing stones.
Hepatic stenosis is defined as intrahepatic fat of at least 5% of liver weight. Simple accumulation of triacylglycerols in the liver could be hepatoprotective;however, prolonged hepatic lipid storage may lead to liver metabolism dysfunction, inflammation and advanced forms of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Hypoproteinemia or low levels of protein in the blood - Proteinemia also causes hypoproteinemia that stimulates lipoprotein synthesis by the liver and decreased lipid catabolism because of reduced lipoprotein lipase.
