Answer: Biocompatibility can be defined as the property of the material which can be compatible with the tissues. It means that the biocompatible substance or material do not produce toxic response mainly when they are exposed to the body or tissues.

The requirements of the biocompatibility are:

1) The biocompatible material should not produce toxic reactions.

2) The material should not be carcinogenic.

3) The biocompatible material should not be biodegradable.

The biocompatinility relevant to dentist because the dentist is mainly concerned with the elimination of the adverse reactions while teeth rooting or doing any procedure. The biocompatibility is closely related to the regulations and rules that mainly affect the dental practice. The use of the biocompatible material can eliminate the risk of patient's disease.
