Answer #1

Answer:

Explanation: Given; Loading dose: 600 mg

Maintenance dose: 400 mg

Interval of doses: QD  (4 times per day)

Duration of dose: Alternate for 14 days (once in two days)

To find; Number of 200 mg tablets for prescribed dose:  ?

Now as given starting first dose is: 600 mg (only for 1 time)

Maintenance dose followed by starting dose for alternative 14 days (7 days) = 400×3 (for first day) + 400×24 (for 6 days)

Total maintenance dose : 1200 + 9600

Total maintenance dose : 10800 mg

Now we will calculate total dose of antibiotic including, loading and maintenance dose : 600 + 10800

So that, total dose of antibiotic : 11400 mg

Now we will calculate above dose in the terms of 200 mg tablets; so that : 11400 ÷ 200

Number of 200 mg tablets : 57 tablets

Final answer : 57 tablets (per tablets 200 mg)
