Swansons theory of caring includes five processes. They are

1. Knowing,

2. Being with,

3. Doing for,

4. Enabling and,

5. Maintaining belief.

These five processes in swansons theory help nursing professionals to treat rather rehabilitate patient. If given guidence to relatives who are going to take care of patient, they can also help patient come out of disease early. Psychological factors affect patient in significant way. When patient comes to medical professional, he/she is expecting a good conversation, a good understanding, a good rapport with doctor. This will psychologically soothe patient, and he will half cured as they say. Another aspect of it is to involve patient in his treatment and rehabilitation plan along with his relatives. Furthermore, religious support will be of crucial importance as it can relieve stress and patient can communicate his/her emotions and can achieve spiritual comfort as well. Knowing the patient and his/her emotions and provide psychological support will help in relief of symptoms patient is experiencing. Being with patient during his/her illness will give mental support to patient. Small activities like asking patient about his health, symptoms and providing proper explanations and clearing his/her doubts will give clear idea about what he/she is suffering from. Maintaining belief in medical and paramedical personnel who is treating him/her and they are also doing thing for betterment of patients will give boost their confidence and also help patient itself. Spiritual comfort will also relieve anxiety and it will help patient during his course of illness.
