Available: 2 mg per 6 mL
How many mL will be given?
Fluid intake of the client should entirely dependent on his disease condition, his dehydration status, Kidney function and so on . These are things that come unde the critical thinking ability of a nurse.
Dosage calculation.
Volume of drug to be administered (A) = desired dose(D) × volume it is in (V) / dose in hand (H)
As per question desired dose =3mg
Dose in hand =2mg
Volume it is in= 6ml
Volume to be administered (A)
= D×V/ H
Substituting values,
A=3mg×6ml/2mg
=9 ml should be given to get the desired dose
