Explain the primary reason ICD10 has been implemented, list three major differences between ICD9 and ICD10.
Ans-
As we know ICD is stands for international statistical classifications of disease and related health problems.
Now a days ICD 10 is working which is implemented in 2016 which have many reasons over ICD 9
These reasons are
Icd 9 have no ability to add new codes
Icd 9 codes are 3-5 character in length
Icd 9 does not support combinations codes and icd 9 allows only the numerical codes thats why icd 10 is implemented which have more accuracy and more usefull..
The differences between icd9 over icd 10 are.
1-icd 9 contain only 13000 codes where icd 10 has 68000 codes.
2- icd 10 support alphabetical codes whrte icd 9 only supports numerical
3- icd 10 allows in combination codes which allow in diagnosis of 2 disease at a time but in case of icd9 it is not applicable..
Hope you will understand the answer..
Thank-you.
