Because valarie Ramirez's is overweight, what postion may be used for gynecological exam if the lithotomy postion is too uncomfortable or difficult for her

Answer #1

For the overweight patients such as Valarie Ramirez, if the lithotomy position is too uncomfortable them the Trendelenburg position or reverse Trendelenburg position can be used for gynaecology study. In the lithotomy position and especially for a patient with obesity and bigger abdomen size, the position becomes too uncomfortable and gynaecology study becomes difficult. In such cases the Trendelenburg position can be used as an alternative for gynaecology study as it helps to have a direct and better angle for the physician to perform the examination. Also for the extremely obese patients this position must be avoided and the reverse Trendelenburg position should be preferred.
