Pain is one among the most complex experiences to understand. It is described in many ways and also it is influenced by many variables. Pain is the most common problem that nurses encounter. In simple words pain is whatever the person is experiencing. Pain can be either acute, chronic or cancer related pain. And also the severity of pain can vary from no pain to worst possible pain. Mostly pain is managed by analgesics.

Assessment is the first step in pain management. Pain can be explained in terms of location, quality, intensity ,aggravating and alleviating factors. Certain situations in which patients are likely to experience pain are-
