Preventive approaches that are Instituted in the critical care unit /environment are generally used to protect the patient from any hazard.

1) prevention of infection = take the measures that can protect pt from infection like use of gloves mask gown and shoe cover , change the beding/lenin, frequent suctioning etc

2) prevent pt from fall /injury = the care giver should prevent the pt from any fall when sedatives are withhold, change position of the pt every 2 hrs to prevent from bed sores.

3) prevent from shocks= the pt is on highly sufficient machines the care giver should make a plan to regularly check the efficacy of the machines and prevent from any electrical hazards
