• The situation developed due to failure of the authorities in testing the water properly, before delivering it the residents. The authorities negligibility in adding anti corrosion inhibitors to the water, led to, leaching of lead from old rusted water supply pipes, into the water and thus residents who consumed it , showed elevated levels of lead in their blood.
• The city , where the population was affected with lead poisoning switched back to the Detroit water system on October 16, 2015 and also signed a 30 year contract with the new Great Lakes Water Authority.
• In October 2, 2020, 26,232 water service lines where excavated and  9,769 lead pipes replaced with copper pipes.
• In August 13, 2020, 90% homes in Flint where inspected for lead pipes.
• In August 20, 2020, the victims of the water crisis were awarded a money settlement of $600 million.
