The medication is administered via three daily doses given at 0700, 1400 and 2100. Each dose must be infused over 45 minutes. The medication arrives from the pharmacy in either 500 ml or 1000 ml bags, both are labeled 2 mg/1.5 ml. Calculate the flow rate in milliliters per hour. Round to the tenth.

Flow rate — When Infusion sets or electronic infusion device is used to administer medication  the flow rate needs to be set . The formula for flow rate calculation is:

Flow rate = Volume (ml) / Time (hours)

In the above question

Volume is- 500ml or 1000ml

Time is- 45 minutes

As in equation we need time in hr So converting 45min to Hr =45/60 = 0.75hr

Putting in formula= for 500 ml medicine

Flow rate= 500/0.75 = 666.66 ml/hr

Putting in formula= for 1000 ml medicine

Flow rate= 1000/0.75 = 1333.33 ml/hr
