A patient is admitted for a gastrojejunostomy tube
change due to a clogged gastrojejunostomy (GJ) tube What diagnosis
code is assigned for the G ) change?
A gastrostomy tube, or G-tube, is a tube inserted
through the abdomen to deliver nutrition directly into the
stomach.
Prior to 2019, a single code, 43760, was used to report replacement of a
G-tube without imaging or endoscopic guidance. As of January 1,
2019, 43760 is no longer
valid.
Instead, CPT introduced new code when replacing
gastrostomy tubes:
43762 Replacement
of gastrostomy tube, percutaneous, includes removal, when
performed, without imaging or endoscopic
guidance.
