She takes an oral contraceptive daily and has a history of migraines approximately once a month that respond to sumatriptan (Imitrex). You diagnose a fractured left wrist. Initial treatment includes splinting and treating her pain. Her fracture will be followed by the Fracture Clinic. What would her initial pharmacological management plan be? The pharmacological management for fractured wrist is

• Analgesics
  • Acetaminophen with codeine
• Anxiolytic
  • Alprazolam
• The following education has to be focused on
  • Medication to be taken as prescribed
  • Do not miss the dose
  • Consume after food to prevent gastric irritation
  • Anslgedics like acetaminophen, paracetamol are safe and has no interaction with contraceptives pill
  • In case of migraine episode one dose of sumatriptan can be taken, but not together with the painkillers prescribed .
  • No OTC medications
