Answer: The primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of mental illness includes:

  • Primary level: At this stage the initial steps should be taken to prevent the mental illness. In this stage, it is important to intervene about the strss level of the person. The services provided for example counseling of the client.
  • Secondary prevention: In this stage the health promotion could take place by encouraging client to indulge in physical activities, healthy life style etc. To remove the stress level and risk factors of the menthal illness.
  • Tertiary prevention: Here the client siffers from mental illness and hence treatment is required. For example, healthcare professionals provide treatment and mental therapy in this stage.
