Homework Answers

Answer #1

The ABO blood group system is used to denote the presence or absence of both , or neither of A and B antigens on erythrocytes. For example;

Blood group A : A antigen in RBC & anti B in serum/plasma

Blood group B : B antigen in RBC & anti A in plasma

To determine blood group antigen antibody agglutination test is done. Anti A antibody will agglutinate the RBC of blood group A.

In the given blood group determination test of Daisy Mae agglutination occurred in Anti A antibody and anti D antibody . The blood group is A positive. Anti D agglutination indicates Rh factor is present.(positive)

So the RBC of Daisy Mae will have A antigen and Rh factor ( D antigen) . So her serum is expected to have Anti B .
