What is autonomic regulation of cardiovascular system? What type of receptors are monitoring the function of cardiovascular system? Explain in your own words

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Autonomic regulation of cardiovascular system starts from cardiovascular center in medulla oblongata. This region of the brain stem receives input from a variety of sensory receptors and from higher brain centers such as limbic system and cerebral cortex. The anticipatory increase occurs because the limbic system in the brain sends signals to the cardiovascular center in medulla.

Paroreceptor which monitor the position of limb and muscles send increased input to the cardiovascular center. It is a major stimulus for the quick rise in heart rate at the onset of physical activity.Chemoreceptirs monitor chemical changes in the blood and barorecptors monitor the blood pressure in major arteries and veins.

Which of the following statements regarding regulation of body functions and systems is false? Both the nervous system and endocrine system use chemicals to send messages. The nervous system and endocrine system cause opposite effects in the same effectors. The nervous system regulates only somatic function, while the endocrine system only affects autonomic structures. For the nervous and endocrine systems to function, the receiving cells must have the correct type of receptors.

The Autonomic Nervous System can be challenging to understand because it is connected to virtually every body function in opposite ways. We are going to explore the physiology of the ANS in this discussion by looking at specific examples of how it works. For your first discussion post, describe how the parasympathetic nervous system influences one function in your body. For example, the parasympathetic nervous system causes decreased blood pressure. If you chose this body function, you would describe the...
