Yes indeed , helath education specialist have an important role in cutting down the cost of healthcar especially by patient education. It is a simple idea that have great outcomes while considering the cost control of healthcare.

Lack of patient education results in increased costs by the patient readmission chances are more which can be very expensive.

For instance while discharging the patient, if patient is provided with adequate knowledge about his/her follow up treatments and avoiding exposure to disease causing environments can remarkably reduce the chances of readmission to hospital and hence it would save a lot of money which can be used for a terminally ill patient who need more attention than others .

To conclude, let how small the patient education Idea be , a professional way of education by a health education specialist can certainly cut down the unwanted expenses in health care.
