Homework Answers

Answer #1

RIF(Reduction in workforce) is performed by the employer to reduce the employees as a result of closure of some plant, surplus staff, reduced funds to manage a greater staff, staff unskilful etc

But before RIF employer must WARN the employees before 60 days.

If possible outsourcing of the employees can be done

Employer can't hire new employee for 1 year and the employees who are reduced from workforce have a chance of rejoining if need arises.

Proper medical checkup of the employees should be done before RIF to rule out any industrial injury

2 To assist employees in RIF employees can transfer the employees to other area where there is need for employment.

The situation of the company is explained in detail to the employees and the reason for reduction in worforce is explained in detail, so the employees morale is not affected by this decision.
