2. Why does reinforcement the key element in Skinner’s
Stimulus-Response theory?
Ans. Reinforcement is needed to make the someone learn a specific behaviour . If the rat is rewarded or praised by achievement of food so he will repeat the task , eventually he will learn that if the rat will open lever then it will achieve food.
So repeation of task make him learn .
As Skinner's operant conditions was designed to teach the rats how to push a lever . This behaviour is not natural to rats , operant conditioning with positive and negative reinforcement were performed in order to teach behaviour.
Reinforcement : is any event that strengthen or increase a specific behaviour or decrease other behaviour .
So positive reinforcement are favourable events or outcomes that are presented after the behaviour . In situation that reflect positive reinforcement , a response or behaviour is strengthened by the addition of something , such as praise or direct rewards.
B) NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT involve the removal of unfavorable events or outcomes after the display of the behaviour. In this situation , a response is strengthened by the removal of Something considered unpleasant.
