Carmelita Divina Gracia's theory of composure behaviour :

Carmelita . A . Divinagracia is a Filipino nurse theorist. She got her Masters in Nursing in 1975 and Doctoral degree in 2001. She worked as An Advanced practice nurse in cardiology and held many academic managerial position like Dean of University of the Estern Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. She worked as clinical nurse, instructor, head nurse , lecturer and written about her experiences and formulated theory of Composure behaviour.  

Composue Behaviour Theory and Nurse's attitude and perception towards Abortion:

Abortion is the cessation of pregnancy or fetal development. An induced abortion, is the process or act of inducing the cessation of pregnancy. Nurse's attitude and perceptions are widely varied on regarding the topic. Many research show that Nurse's judgement on abortion, is mainly depend on the situation of the woman, who undergoes abortion, rather than a general perspective of Abortion. According to Composure Behaviour Theory, nurses should provide care for the woman based on Composure behaviour for an outcome of Wellness. Composure behaviour , Composure is an acronym refers to:

R - Respect and Relaxation

E - Empathy.

When a woman come with the need of Abortion, the nurse can conduct the basic assessment and assist the physician in the abortion procedure or take part in Counselling service and provide health education and support for the woman by applying  'Composure' behaviour like approach her in an openmind with empathy , understanding, respect, relaxation, and ensure the presence and prayer , means the spiritual support, along with clinical competency in managing her condition with appropriate nursing interventions for a Wellness out come. So that the woman may experience physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellness as an outcome.
