Please answer these true and false.

T or F - the cardiac cycles of the atria and ventricles occur at the same time.

T or F - The pulmonary circuit of blood flow is the flow of oxygenated blood from the ventricle to the active tissue.

T or F - Pulmonary function testing recommended for an individual who is a regular smoker who is 35 years old.

T or F - During a progressive ( graded) endurance- type exercise bout, stroke volume will typically increase proportionately with the work rate until about 50%-60% of maximal work levels where it will, for the most part, level off.

T or F - Total peripheral resistance is affected by blood viscosity, blood type, blood vessel diameter, and blood length.

T or F - Abnormal pulmonary function tests can relate to an increase risk of all forms of cancer.

T or F - GAP junctions hold cardiac tissue tightly together to allow signals to move quickly via desmosomes from one cardiac cell to the next.

T or F - When we refer to blood pressure, we are usually referring to arterial blood pressure. That is, we are usually referring to the pressure exerted on the arterial walls during the cardiac cycle.

T or F - Physical fitness is comprised of health related fitness and exercise related fitness.

Answer #1

1.True-the Right and Left Atria contract at the same time, pumping blood to the Right and Left Ventricles. Then the Ventricles contract together (called systole) to propel blood out of the heart. After this second stage, the heart muscle relaxes (called diastole) before the next heartbeat.

2.False -Pulmonary circulation moves blood between the heart and the lungs. It transports deoxygenated blood to the lungs to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide. The oxygenated blood then flows back to the heart.

3.False-pulmonary function testing is done in smokers , stroke volume rises early, then plateaus as work intensity rises.

5.False-total peripheral resistance is not affected by blood type.

6.False-Abnormal pulmonary function tests can relate to an increase risk of only lung cancer not all forms of cancer.

7.False-Gap junctions are specialized connections that form a narrow pore between adjacent cells. ... In a gap junction, the lipid bilayer of adjacent cells is pierced through by proteins called connexons.

8.False-Blood pressure represents the pressure exertedexerted by blood against the arterial walls during a cardiac cycle.

9.true-physical fitness is comprised of health related fitness and exercise related fitness.
