Homework Answers

Answer #1

Arranging the blood flow through the heart in the order ,starting from Right atrium.

We know that Right side of heart deals with the deoxygenated and the left side of the heart deals with oxygenated blood.

The right side of the heart receives deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body(through superior and inferior vena cava) and then from right atrium through tricuspid valve blood reaches right ventricle.(The valve prevents back flow of blood back to right atrium)

Then ,from right ventricle the deoxygenated blood is send to Pulmonary artery, which goes to the lungs.

from lungs the blood is oxygenated and the oxygenated blood returns back to the heart via Pulmonary vein and reaches the left Atrium.
From left Atrium, through mitral valve the blood goes to left ventricle.

from left ventricle the oxygenated blood is transported to all parts of the body

So ,in the order, starting from right atrium.

Blood passes through the tricuspid valve. #1

Blood is pumped from the right ventricle to the lungs. #2

Oxygenated blood enters the left atrium.#3

Blood passes through the mitral valve. #4

Oxygenated blood is pumped into circulation.#5

Deoxygenated blood returns to the heart from the venous system.#6

Important things to remember.

Mitral valve is in the left side .

Tricuspid valve is in the right side.

Pulmonary artery has deoxygenated blood from right ventricle( all other arteries in our body carry oxygenated blood)

Pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood from lungs to heart .(all other veins in the body carries deoxygenated blood)
