Nursing theory is described as a inventive and careful structuring of ideas. It is a tentative, purposeful and systematic view of event. By reason of systematic enquiry, nurses are able to develop knowledge for improving the care of patients. In the theory mention that a cohorent group of general propositions are used to explain the principles. The nursing theory create a structure for communicating with nurses, any other representatives and the health care team members. The unique theories are developed by Neuman, Watson, Parse, Orlando and Peplau.
There are three types of nursing theory such as
  
Grand nursing thory
In this theory the general concept, scope and propositions are explained. At this level they provide useful practice. But here not designed a emperical testing. Directing, predicting and explaining nursing in certain situation are the limitations.

Midrange nursing theories
Compared to grand nursing it should be low scope. It provides a effective bridge between grand nursing theory and nursing practice. The mid-range theories are tangible and verifiable through testing. Narration, explanation and prediction of phenomena are the functions of this theory.
This theory is very simple and straight forward. But it has a limited number of reality.

Nursing practice theories
It has the most limited scope theory. This theory makes for nursing interventions, predict outcomes and explain the impact of nursing practice. It analyse a narrow range aspects and the capacity should be limited. This theory exactly explain the community or discipline.
