Homework Answers

Answer #1

Emergency crisis needs an immediate evacuation. But there are certain crisis which has to be managed in the place rather than evacuation.

Example of such cases include - Fire or smoke immediately outside the room, chemical aerosol particulates which are dangerous when inhaled, presence of live electrical wires.

How to shelter in place :

  • Close the doors and windows. Switch off the ventilation systems that allow outside air.
  • Turn off all the air coolers along with heating systems.
  • Make sure you have battery powered radio and phone available in case of emergency.
  • Use a wet cloth to cover your nose and mouth in case you feel uncomfortable with the particulate matter.
  • Do not call others unless there is emergency like fire inside.
  • Have emergency needed things like batteries, flash light, torch, first aid kit, food and potable water.

Thank you.
