A newborn within 24 hours of birth will be going home
Usuallly, a healthy full term newborn will be discharged from the hospital within 24 to 48 hours.
In the case of late preterm babies (born between 34 -36 weeks of gestation) the baby will be going home after a short hospital stay of atleast 48 hours.
Newborn through ciserian and the mother will have to stay in the hospital for a bit longer, if they have health complications.
Babies born before 34 weeks of gestation will need more longer hospital stay. Because they will be having many health issues. So, the health care team will closely monitor the baby within the hospital.
