The person who got hit with the bat is stumbling around. You call 9-1-1 and notice no external bleeding. You are now waiting for the ambulance to arrive. In the meantime you have the victim lay down and cover them with the jacket you had on.

I want you to tell me the reason why you would lie the victim down flat and cover them with the jacket. In what way does this help the body? Review what the blood vessels do inside the body when going into shock. One hint: blood flow keeps our bodies warm.

Injuries to the abdominal area require sudden medical aid. If the liver, spleen or pancreas is damaged or injured may lead to internal bleeding. A high force when applied to the bowel can cause the contents to spill into the abdominal cavity causing infection.

Intestinal symptoms include tenderness to the area, changes in bowel function or bloating, and systemic symptoms such as temperature or blood pressure changes. So the patient have to lie down in a position of greatest comfort, usually on the back with both knees drawn up inoder to relief the pain and spasm.

Loosen the tight clothing, especially at waist and neck. We have to cover the body with jacket inoder to avoid change in temperature or blood pressures.

During shock excessive dilation of blood vessels increases the capacity of blood vessels and decreases blood pressure. This can further leads to decrease in blood flow and oxygen delivery to organs. So inoder to keep the blood pressure and avoid vasodilation we have to cover the body with jacket.
