Ampicillin is in powder form. So the medication should be reconstituted with 1.8 mL of sterile water which will be around 2mL.

Therefore 1mL contains 250mg.

Volume of dose to be administered = Prescribed dose/ mg available x mL diluted in

= 500mg / 250mg x 1mL

= 2mL

To administer the desired dose of 500mg the reconstituted Ampicillin dose of 2mL to be withdrawn and to be administered.
