Answer: For the communicable diseases, it is important to take various precautions. The communicable diseases are those disease which can be transmitted from one infected person to another healthy person through various means.

  • Contact precautions are taken in the case where the disease could occur by touching the infected patient or the items. So, it is important to wear gloves, avoid touching belongs of the patient. For example diseases like MRSA, open wounds etc.
  • Droplet precautions should be taken in the disease which is caused or transmitted through droplets or coughing. So, it is better to wear mask, gloves during assessing the patient. It is better to maintain distance and avoid the use of patient's belongings. For example diseases like pneumonia, influenza.
  • Airborne precautions: it should be taken in the case of the diseases which can spread through air. Mask is most important, gloves as well as face shields should be used while taking care of the patient.
  • Neutropenic precautions includes the prevention from the bacterial diseases and infection. It is important to wear gloves while assessing patient.
