Prostatitis and fertility?
Do Inflammatory markers rise in STD/PID?
Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland. It is associated with male fertility. many studies have shows that chronic prostatitis can cause male infertility, but the mechanism is not clearly understood. one of the main reason is that chronic prostatitis cause increased white blood cell[WBC] count in the blood, and for chronic conditions this this white blood cells can decrease the function, motility and quality of the sperm. It is linked with a molecules called'reactive oxygen species' which are produced by WBCs and this molecules can affect the sperm.
Inflammatory markers will rise in STD/PID according to severity and duration of infections.
the main infalmmatory markers like ESR and C reactive protien will show rise in chlamidiya infection and some other pelvic inflammatory diseases like Neiseseria gonorrhea infections. increases CA-125 levels, another inflammatory marker also can be noted in PIDs.
