Some of the common factors that are associated with drug and alcohol addiction are :

1. Poverty : poverty is one of most important factor resulting in addiction.
2. Stress and depression: stress caused due to professional or personal reasons drive people towards drug and alcohol.
3. Peer pressure : sometimes people with company of friends and family who are addicts pressurise them to take drugs or alcohol.
