Discuss two questions you would ask this patient in relation to his caregiving responsibilities on his own health
. Mr. Smith is a 41-year-old Caucasian male who presents to the FNP clinic alone for his annual physical exam. He reports living alone since his divorce three years ago. He sees his young children every other weekend and is trying to obtain more visitation and joint custody. He works 60 hours/week as a construction worker and has health insurance. Mr. Smith has little time for recreation and community involvement, which he enjoyed prior to divorce. He rarely sees friends and reports having caregiving responsibilities for two elderly parents living in local senior housing.
Since Mr. Smith has little time for recreation and community involvement, since divorce he is prone to mental health issues such as; depression and anxiety. Thus he should take of this emotional and mental wellbeing; which is part of a healthy living and socialize more. The questions to be asked are; is Mr. Smith doing anything to build a social convoy for his emotional wellbeing or not and is he engaging in physical activity to reduce his risk of Cardiovascular Diseases and diabetes.
