Answer #1

Patient centered care is one of the key aspect of nursing. Patients perception about the way they have to be cared depends on individuals. I would like to share one my experience when I was working in Christian medical college hospital vellore, in india. Since india is a diverse country and has many languages, there usually exists a barrier for communication. Once I had patient who was from a different language and the patient doesn't knew English. So I was not able to properly explain before each procedure. He was dissatisfied with the care I gave because he was not able to understand me. I got help from another staff who knew the language and explained everything. He was receptive to my care and appreciated me for the effort I took to communicate with him.

That is the day when I understood explanation and proper communication also plays an important role in nursing care. The wholistic approach of nursing care include physical, psychological, spiritual, social aspects.
