The developmental dysplasia of hip can be identified by positive barlow sign, positive ortolani test and positive allis test. Barlows test od done by keeping the thigh and knee joints in 90 degree and addiction of the hip and applying mild pressure on knee with a force directing posteriorly. There will be dislocation of the hip.

In the ortolani sign, the thigh and knees are placed in 90 degree angle and exerting force anteriorly with abduction of hip( knees are drawn up to the body and then spread away from midline) which reduce the hip dislocation. A paloable and audible clunk occur due to reduction.

The barlow test dislocate the hip and ortolani test reduce the dislocation.

Allis test is done in supine position with flex the knees in 90 degree and ankle at 45 degree while keeping noth heels at same levels. The affected side knee will be lowerd.
