Preprocedure :explain the risk ,benefit ,purpose of the procedure and obtain consent from the patient , do diagnostic tests xray usg , platelet count ,presence of coagulopathy, place the patient in upright position,explain the patient will receive local anesthetic

During procedure :monitor respiratory rate, vitals,saturation,level of consciousness, drain maximum of 1.5litres

Post procedure:bed rest 2hrs, monitor vitals, provide analgesics,document procedure, fluid level ,labelling of specimen, obtain chest xray to evaluate the fluid level
