Homework Answers

Answer #1

In the case of the unconscious person, lying on their back, the tongue, falls against the back wall of throat (anatomical change) , creating the blockade of air passing towards the lungs. also the other muscles are relaxed i.e. muscle-tone is lost. In this position the tissues of the neck collapse into throat blocking the breathing (physiological change) through airways (as the upper respiratory tract is consist of the anatomical tube made up of smooth muscles).
